Assistant Researcher in Philosophy, Academia Nacional de Ciencias de Buenos Aires
About
I studied philosophy as an undergraduate at the Universidad del Salvador (1995-9), obtaining two degrees in May 2000. I spent the academic year 2002-3 at the Université de Fribourg (Switzerland) with a research fellowship granted by the Swiss Federation. I got my PhD in Philosophy from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in December 2006. From April 2002 to March 2007 I was a Doctoral Fellow and from April 2007 to March 2009 a Postdoctoral Fellow at the CONICET (Argentina). In May-June 2008, I was a visiting scholar at the Université de Fribourg. In September-October 2011, I was a fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies (Harvard University) in Washington, D.C. Since April 2009 I am an Assistant Researcher in Philosophy at the CONICET. I am also editor-in-chief (with Duncan Pritchard) of the International Journal for the Study of Skepticism.
I'm interested in any kind of philosophical skepticism. My primary area of research is ancient skepticism, especially Sextus Empiricus' Pyrrhonism. Other strong research interests include contemporary ethical skepticism and epistemology, in particular the epistemology of disagreement and the so-called Pyrrhonian problematic. I'm also interested in moral psychology, logical positivism, the history of modern skepticism, and the skeptical aspects of Wittgenstein's thought.
My publications include papers on Descartes, ethical skepticism, and ancient skepticism. I recently edited two volumes, Pyrrhonism in Ancient, Modern, and Contemporary Philosophy (Springer, 2011), and New Essays on Ancient Pyrrhonism (Brill, 2011). I'm currently working on a volume on disagreement and skepticism, which is under contract with Routledge.
